Hammer and Fire: Job

an online class with Pat Reeder

"But where can wisdom be found?

And where is the place of understanding?”

(Job 28:12)

Wisdom literature is often difficult to understand and the Book of Job is no exception. The main character, Job, is subjected to immense trials, losing his family, wealth and eventually health. His wife abandons him and his friends come and blame all of his problems on him. Meanwhile, God and Satan are engaged in a “wager” concerning Job’s righteousness. Such a complex scenario is a perfect storm, making for a razor sharp case study in the theology of suffering and much more.

This course aims to identify where and why we might struggle, while exploring resources in Scripture, literature, music & creation that can offer the spiritual nutrition needed for our lives.
